Separate the demand profiles
Record which buildings operate during holidays and at weekends. Size each storage duty from the agreed design information.
EDUCATION / TERM-TIME DEMAND
GRP water tanks for teaching buildings, accommodation and campus facilities. Decca helps you choose the construction and plan installation around your programme.
Selection help · Drawing review · Agreed installation support
A classroom block, boarding house and sports centre should not be treated as one identical demand profile. Define the water duty for each part of the estate and agree the tank arrangement with the project designer and estates team.
| Teaching buildings | Breaks, lunch periods, kitchens and washroom demand. |
|---|---|
| Accommodation | Different occupancy and vacation periods from teaching blocks. |
| Sports facilities | Changing rooms and event-related peaks to assess separately. |
| Closures | Holiday and partial-occupation operating arrangements. |
| Replacement work | Delivery access, isolation and the available shutdown window. |

02 / Planning priority
Include closures and phased occupation in the water-management plan. The responsible team should agree how the system is monitored, operated and brought back into use.
03 / Planning priority
Confirm survey information, support readiness, removal routes and commissioning responsibilities before booking the installation. State any term-time working restrictions.
Give Decca the required litres and identify whether they are nominal, actual or actual usable. Keep any fire reserve in the fire designer’s brief. The capacity calculator compares tank geometry and operating levels; it does not calculate a school’s demand from pupil numbers.
WORKED-THROUGH PLANNING QUESTION
Review the occupied-day demand and the summer operating plan together. A larger replacement may create more stored water than the building normally uses. Any proposed division, changed water level or revised storage arrangement needs the designer’s review. Illustrative planning scenario.
Choose by the measured delivery route and installation layout, then confirm the selected product and duty.
A complete moulded body where the full delivery route works.
Separate body sections, with room to assemble and seal the joint.
Panels assembled in position; compare the base and fixing access.
TIF body height is limited to 3 m; other tank bodies to 4 m. Chambers, supports and maintenance headroom are additional. Final dimensions and access are agreed with Decca.
Decca helps select the tank and reviews the campus or building layout, delivery route and planned shutdown window with your team. We manufacture and supply the agreed tank and can quote for installation. Any testing, cleaning, disinfection and handover in our scope is agreed before work starts.
Share the information you already have. Mark unknown items for review rather than guessing them.
Use a common standard for records and maintenance where appropriate, but assess each building’s duty, occupancy and layout. Teaching, accommodation and sports use can differ substantially.
Storage, refill and peak demand must be considered together. Extra volume also changes the amount of water kept in the system; it should be justified by the design brief.
Include the required window in the enquiry. Decca can review the scope and programme with the project team; availability and duration are confirmed for the order.
Use the current project specification and confirm the applicable document editions with the responsible designer. These links provide background guidance; they are not product-approval certificates.
Application planning guidance. Product suitability, approval evidence and the final Decca drawing must be confirmed for the order. Water demand and complete system design remain with the responsible designer.
